About Us

Freeport Transport Industries, Inc. was started in 1951 by the late Andy Smetanick. He started the company with a 1940's single axle dump truck and big dreams. After passing the reins on to son, Don Smetanick, Freeport Transport Industries sprouted. FTI has since grown to a 80+ power unit fleet and fully operational shop with hopes of growing to 100+ power units in the future. 

FTI takes pride in offering Peterbilt’s and Kenworth's to our company drivers. We also take pride in the ability to haul any of your specialized freight in our vast trailer selection options. Those trailers include Pneumatic Dry Bulk, Vacuum Transfer, Chemical Liquid, Aluminum Flatbed trailers (48' x 102" and 53' x 102"), Drop Deck, Van, and Refrigerated Van trailers.
